15 things to do during a “staycation”

A staycation is more than just a few days at home, it’s fun and relaxation doing the things you have always wanted to do (those things you have been day dreaming about sitting behind the office desk , wishing you were doing those rather than the presentation due at the end of the day) but never got a change to do! So come on…make the best out of your long weekend and that extra day off !

To ensure that this long weekend feels like an actual vacation, you need to set some ground rules:

  • No emails
  • No working from home
  • No worrying
  • No fighting
  • No cleaning
  • No laundry

Here are 15 ideas for things to do during a staycation:

  1. Have a board game day and host a board game tournament
  2. Plan a day trip
  3. Celebrate “pajama day”
  4. Bake some goodies
  5. Go for a very long drive listening to your favorite teen album
  6. Take a new exercise class
  7. Hit the pool or beach
  8. Read a book
  9. Binge-watch the show you’ve always wanted to see
  10. Take lots of naps
  11. Host a BBQ
  12. Unplug everything and go electronic free for a day
  13. Go biking or hiking (or both)
  14. Go bowling
  15. Take a virtual museum tour such as the Smithsonian Natural Museum, the Louvre or the Sistine Chapel

Remember, the key to having a great staycation is not about the activities you do but rather your own attitude and your commitment to making it fun and relaxing. Leave the chores behind, kick back and enjoy the moment…laugh, talk and create memories with your loved ones that you will cherish forever!
